The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) has recently closed 666 illegal medicine shops in Kaduna State.
This action, taken under the National Drug Distribution Guidelines, aims to ensure the safe distribution of medicines and safeguard public health.
The enforcement targeted various premises including 47 pharmacies, 313 patent medicine shops, and 306 unregistered medicine outlets. During the operation, a total of 895 locations were inspected, with compliance directives issued to 9 establishments.
PCN Director of Enforcement, Pharm. Stephen Esumobi, emphasized the risks posed by substandard storage conditions in these unregistered shops and assured continued enforcement to uphold regulatory standards and public health safety.
