Shea butter is used worldwide for its various uses in the food industry as well as in the cosmetics sector, with a market value estimated to reach at least USD 3B in 2025. Within Nigeria, there are some of the largest concentrations of shea trees in the world as the plants are native to the country, making it the biggest shea nut producer at 263K MT in 2018. West African shea butter, including Nigerian shea butter, is also known especially for its high concentration of vitamin A.
Like every other business, the availability of human and other resources defines agricultural productivity. Agriculture in Africa is regarded as the single most important economic activity which employs about two-thirds of the working population.
On this part, the Emmanuel University, NC, USA in collaboration with business innovation WA Ltd will today April 18th, 2023 meet with some cross section of farmers in Abia State as part of the activities to mark the 2023 international farmers’ rendezvous, S.E. Nigeria.
The event which is scheduled to hold today April 18th by 4:pm, with the theme ” leverage on the export potentials of shea butter” will take place today at Biwal plaza, Umuobu Ovom 1, Aba, Abia State capital Eastern region of Nigeria.
Interacting with Newsieevents the facilitator and president, ” BRAINBOX FARMERS’ ASSOCIATION Dr. Frank Freds Nwosu, MNIM said the annual event is proposed to impact farmers and encourage them to a higher dimension in their various and respective farming activities.
He said the event will create room for interactions with the farmers and profuse adequate solutions to major challenges confronting the practitioners in the field.
However, in a release by the convener Prince Ehiemere Chinwendu, the S.E. Regional coordinator, international institute for African scholars, IIAS invite all farmers and the intends to avail themselves this great opportunity.
