Despite a disappointing performance at the Women’s Summer Olympics in Paris, Nigeria’s Super Falcons remain the top-ranked women’s football team in Africa according to the latest FIFA rankings. Released on Friday, the rankings place Nigeria 36th globally and first in Africa.
South Africa’s Bayana Bayana is ranked second in Africa and 50th in the world, moving up from 51st in June. Morocco and Zambia follow as the third and fourth-ranked African teams, respectively, with Ghana rounding out the top five in Africa.
The top 10 women’s football teams globally are led by the United States, England, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Canada, Japan, Brazil, Korea DPR, and France. The next FIFA Women’s World Ranking will be published on December 20, 2024.
