Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has declined offers from France and the United Kingdom to send European troops to Ukraine.
In an interview with Rai1 TV, Meloni emphasized that Italian soldiers would not be deployed to Ukraine while the conflict with Russia continues.
Expressing doubts about the EU’s defense approach, Meloni questioned the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposal, stating, “Italy finds the idea difficult to implement and will not send troops to Ukraine.”
This decision comes amid rising tensions between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy over the ongoing war.
