Switzerland has reopened its embassy in Baghdad after 33 years, following its closure during the 1991 Gulf War.
The Swiss Foreign Ministry announced that improved security conditions in Iraq have made it feasible to establish a presence there once again.
The reopening aims to bolster bilateral relations, reflecting Iraq’s growing role as a mediator in the Middle East and its potential for Swiss investment and export opportunities due to its energy resources and economic diversification.
