AFCON 2025: Super eagles suffer’s 2-1 defeat from Rwanda.

In a surprising twist to their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign, Nigeria’s Super Eagles were defeated 2-1 by Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

Despite having already secured their place in next year’s tournament as Group D winners, the Super Eagles took the lead in the 59th minute with a brilliant solo effort from Samuel Chukwueze.

However, Rwanda responded strongly, scoring twice in quick succession through Ange Mutsinzi and Innocent Nshuti to clinch their first-ever victory over Nigeria. This loss marks the first under interim manager Augustine Eguavoen, who could be stepping down from the position.
