Aishatu Ahmed Binani, the 2023 governorship candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, has firmly denied rumors that she has defected from the party. During an event in Yola, Binani, represented by Mijinyawa Kugama, reaffirmed her loyalty to the APC, stating that she and her supporters, who are founding members of the party, remain committed to it. She emphasized that no external force could compel them to leave the APC.
Binani expressed appreciation for the support she received during the 2023 governorship elections, where she narrowly lost to the incumbent Governor Ahmadu Fintiri. Umar Mustapha, a political associate of Binani, highlighted the role of the Gladiators for Binani Only group in uniting diverse ethnic communities in Adamawa, aiming to strengthen the APC ahead of the 2027 elections to reclaim the state from the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The event also saw the inauguration of key executives for the Gladiators group, including Maryam Waziri as Secretary and Rhoda Nuhu as Women Leader. The group is committed to supporting APC’s future political goals, particularly in fighting poverty and empowering the less privileged.
