Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has sharply criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration over recent actions by the Department of State Services (DSS), including the arrest of Joe Ajaero, the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and the raid on the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) office.
In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Atiku condemned what he described as an unprecedented level of oppression that surpasses even the harshest periods of military rule in Nigeria.
He urged Tinubu’s administration to redirect its efforts towards addressing the issues of terrorism and banditry rather than targeting civil society and the media.
