Rotimi Amaechi’s decision to dedicate the award to Nyesom Wike, despite their political rivalry, shows a commendable gesture of respect and recognition. Despite their history of differences since Amaechi’s defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015, Amaechi acknowledged Wike’s continued efforts in completing the College of Medical Sciences project at Rivers State University (RSU).

This project, which began under Amaechi’s administration, was significant in advancing the state’s educational and healthcare infrastructure. Wike’s role in ensuring its completion reflects a rare moment of cooperation between the two former allies, and this act further underscores the importance of focusing on state development above personal or political rivalries.

The event also highlighted the contribution of Dr. Fatima Kyari, who expressed gratitude to Amaechi for his vision in initiating the project, and symbolized a new chapter for the medical graduates inducted into the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.

The gesture speaks volumes about the power of collaboration for the greater good, even amid differences.
