Joe Igbokwe, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has publicly accused opposition political parties of contributing to insecurity in Nigeria.

He claimed that these parties are allegedly sponsoring criminal activities, such as banditry and vandalism, as part of a strategy to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 elections. Igbokwe specifically highlighted the opposition’s involvement in the vandalization of transmission lines, pointing to recent incidents where over 18 towers were damaged in January 2025.

In his Facebook post, Igbokwe emphasized that the opposition’s tactics, including supporting bandits and spreading fake news, would not succeed, as he believes President Tinubu is well-positioned to remain in power until 2031. He also expressed his confidence that the president needs a second term to “set the records straight,” further reinforcing his belief in Tinubu’s political longevity.
