APC Oyo State appointed Alhaji Moshood Olayide Abas as acting chairman, following the death of Barrister Isaac Omodewu.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has appointed Alhaji Moshood Olayide Abas as the acting chairman, following the death of Barrister Isaac Omodewu. Abas, the former deputy state chairman, was confirmed by the State Executive Committee during an emergency meeting. His appointment aligns with the party’s constitution, which designates the deputy chairman to step in as acting chairman when a vacancy occurs.

Abas, a pharmacist by profession, has extensive political experience, beginning in the 1970s with the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) under Bola Ige. His past roles include Executive Chairman of Ifeloju Local Government and Chairman of the Oyo State Hospital Management Board. The vacancy arose due to the passing of Omodewu, who died on August 19 in the United States.
