Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reassured the widows of fallen soldiers in the state of his commitment to supporting them.
During an event marking the Nigerian Armed Forces Remembrance Day, the governor announced a donation of N150 million to the widows and emphasized the importance of providing them with business opportunities.
He directed the ministries of Women Affairs and Humanitarian Services to ensure the widows receive both financial support and skills training to foster sustainable livelihoods through programs like IbomLED.
Governor Eno also announced an additional N100 million donation to the widows of police officers and other security agencies who lost their lives in service.
He praised the sacrifices of the Nigerian Armed Forces and urged all Nigerians to embrace unity, equity, and fairness for national progress. The event concluded with a wreath-laying ceremony by the governor and heads of security agencies in the state.
