The Nigerian Army has announced that Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, is on leave, reportedly due to health issues.
Army spokesman Onyema Nwachukwu confirmed that Major General Abdulsalami Ibrahim will serve as acting COAS during this period. He emphasized that the Army has protocols in place to maintain leadership continuity and that operations will continue as scheduled.
Nwachukwu dismissed claims of a leadership vacuum, asserting that the Army remains well-structured and organized.
