The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, has urged State Attorneys General to avoid nepotism, political bias, and bigotry in the fight against corruption.

Speaking at a roundtable meeting organized by the ICPC in Abuja, Fagbemi emphasized that corruption should not be excused or rationalized and proposed removing the prerogative of mercy for those convicted of corruption to deter others.

He also stressed the importance of basing legal opinions on facts rather than public sentiment and urged anti-graft agencies to conduct thorough investigations before making arrests to prevent media trials.
