The Minister of Power Chief Adebayo Adelabu has sympathized with victims and the Oyo state government over the explosion that rocked the state capital, recently.
The Minister who visited the scene of the explosion in Bodija charged the people to be vigilant whenever there was any suspicious movement around them. He urged them to always report such suspicion to the State government and security agents.
” In order to forestall re-occurrence of Bodija explosion, residents of Oyo state must be conscious of anything around them. This will go a long way to reduce and manage disaster in their area.”
While promising to restore electricity to the Dejo Oyelese street and other areas affected around Bodija, the Minister also commended the Oyo State Government, National Emergency Management Agency ( NEMA) and other relevant stakeholders in the disaster management sector for their prompt action.
“Transformers and other electricity infrastructures have been destroyed by the explosion and this is where I will help by getting in touch with IBEDC to ensure the repair and I will personally supervise it”, Adelabu stated.
Also speaking, Professor Temitope Alonge , head of the emergency operations centre for the evacuation and rescue of victims involved in the blast disclosed that people from 600 meters away from the explosion had come to register at the Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) for proper health check.
“The Nigerian Society of Engineers will submit their report on Tuesday after conducting structural integrity test on affected buildings about 500 meters from the epicentre of the explosion”, Alonge stated.
Alonge also appealed to affected residents to come forward in case they are having symptoms they can’t explain in their bodies.
