In response to severe flooding in Maiduguri and Jere areas, the Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has successfully rescued 719 people.
The agency’s Director-General, Mohammed Barkindo, reported that the victims were initially trapped on rooftops, trees, and upper floors.
The rescue operation, which began yesterday and continued today, involved divers using improvised tools like ropes and tubes.
The rescued individuals were taken to private residences with relatives rather than official camps, based on their preference.
