Brigadier General Babatunde Omopariola has officially taken over as the commander of the 17 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 2 Joint Task Force Northwest Operation Haderim Daji (JTF NW OPHD). The handover ceremony, held at the Brigade Headquarters in Natsinta Cantonment, Katsina, saw Brig. Gen. Omopariola succeed Brigadier General O.A. Fadairo, who has been reassigned to the 12 Brigade Lokoja.
In his farewell address, Brig. Gen. Fadairo expressed gratitude for the support and cooperation of his officers and soldiers and encouraged them to maintain their discipline. He expressed confidence in Brig. Gen. Omopariola’s leadership capabilities.
In his initial address, Brig. Gen. Omopariola praised his predecessor and committed to working closely with all members of the brigade to enhance peace and stability. Prior to this role, he served as the Chief of Staff at the 6 Division Headquarters, Nigerian Army, in Port Harcourt. The handover included the signing of official documents, the symbolic passing of the command flag, and a quarter guard parade.
