The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and publicity Garba Shehu, in a statement on Friday, revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived at his home tome in Daura, Kastina State for a one-week private visit.
Shehu said the aircraft that conveyed the President from Abuja arrived at the Umaru Musa Yar’ Adua International Airport at 4:45 pm.
President Buhari was welcomed by the governor of Kastina State, Aminu Bello Masari, his deputy, and other high profile dignitaries of the state.
There was also a heavy presence of security operatives and other security agencies, the Emir of Daura, Umar Faruk Umar, who led the members of the Emirate Council and a parade of colorful horse riders and courtiers was also on the ground and they all received the President with jubilation.
This is a visit the President is making to his hometown, Daura since December 2019 and this was so because of the dreaded Coronavirus pandemic. This visit will enable the President to engage in a number of private activities.
Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo will be filling in for the President while he is away, including presiding over Wednesday’s Federal Executive council Meeting which will be done virtually.
