Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, who was the 2023 Labour Party (LP) candidate for Lagos State governor, has hinted at the possibility of contesting again in the 2027 election. During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, he stated that, “by God’s grace,” he might run for governor in 2027.
Despite losing to incumbent Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in the 2023 election, where he garnered 312,329 votes compared to Sanwo-Olu’s 762,134, Rhodes-Vivour emphasized that he has not given up on his goal of becoming the governor of Lagos.
He expressed concerns about the current political landscape, highlighting a “full state capture” happening in Nigeria and stressed the need for unity among opposition parties. According to him, without collaboration, any efforts to contest in 2027 could be futile. His immediate focus is to strengthen the Labour Party for future political challenges.
