The Honourable Member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency in the National Assembly and Chairman of the House Committee on Public Procurement, Rt. Hon. Unyime Idem, has added another distinguished accolade to his growing list of awards. Over the weekend, Hon. Idem was honored as the Best House of Representatives Member on Empowerment and Constituency Development at a colorful ceremony held at the prestigious Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja.
The federal lawmaker, known for his exceptional leadership and dedicated service, has consistently been recognized for his contributions to national governance and his tireless representation of his constituency. This latest award joins a long list of honors he has received, including:
- Federal Lawmaker of the Year, 2021 by Daily Independent Newspaper
- Most Valuable Parliamentarian for sponsoring the highest number of motions in the 9th House of Representatives (2023) by Orderpaper Nigeria
- Best Federal Lawmaker on Constituency Development, 2022 by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ)
- LEEX Federal Lawmaker of the Year on Constituency Development, 2022
- Most Outstanding Lawmaker of the Year on Constituency Development & Apostle of Motions, 2020 by the House of Representatives Press Corps
- Distinguished Parliamentarian Award for Most Outstanding Lawmaker of the Year, 2024 by the United Nations Peace Organization
In a heartfelt message shared on his social media page, Hon. Idem expressed gratitude for the recognition, noting that it was a reflection of the collective efforts of his team and supporters. He also shared that the award was presented on his behalf by his Deputy Chairman in the Public Procurement Committee, Hon. Sani Ibrahim Tanko, who praised Hon. Idem’s leadership.
According to Hon. Tanko, “Rep. Idem is the best chairman I have worked with in the National Assembly. He is thorough, a stickler for excellence, and has immense passion for his duties.”
In addition to the award, Hon. Idem was also named Patron of the Great Achievers Initiative for Youths and Community Development (GAIYD), further solidifying his standing as a key figure in youth empowerment and community development.
