By Akpan Simeon.

Mr. Friday Archibong, a contender for the position of chapter chairman of the PDP in Abak LGA, Akwa Ibom state, has voiced serious concerns regarding the conduct of the state working committee, led by Mr. Aniekan Akpan. Archibong criticizes what he perceives as irregularities and misconduct from members of the state working committee handling of the selection process for chapter officers.

Specifically, Archibong opposes the alleged imposition of candidates by unnamed stakeholders within the party, emphasizing that such decisions should be based on merit and justification rather than arbitrary influence. He stresses the importance of consensus among party aspirants, asserting that genuine stakeholders must reach agreement for a candidate to be considered a consensus choice. He also accused the state chairman Mr. Aniekan Akpan attempting to imposed and influence the decision of the masses especially in Abak LGA.

Archibong warns that if these issues are not addressed, they could damage the reputation of the PDP, particularly in the upcoming elections in the politically significant Ikot Ekpene senatorial district.

He argues that the imposition of chapter officers who do not adhere to the party’s constitution and rules could have detrimental effects, potentially leading to electoral losses for the PDP in Akwa Ibom state.

Therefore, Archibong advocates strongly for a fair and transparent selection process within the PDP. He believes that maintaining integrity in the party’s internal affairs is crucial for its electoral viability and overall standing in the state.
