In an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Cletus Obun, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former chairman of the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) in Cross River State, declared that destabilizing the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is part of the APC’s political strategy.

He emphasized that while this is a legitimate political tactic, it should not escalate into violence. His comments came in response to accusations from PDP chieftain Segun Sowunmi, who had criticized President Bola Tinubu’s appointment of Nyesom Wike as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, attributing the crisis within the PDP to this decision.

Obun countered that such political maneuvers are natural, asserting that it is equally the duty of the PDP to destabilize the APC when possible.
