The newly married couple who performed their first matrimonial steps at marriage registry in New garage Ibadan, Oluyole LGA, Oyo State capital to institutionalised their union.
The couple later proceeded to Egioku Town in Iwo LGA in Osun State to perform the traditional rite.
Speaking with Newsieevents shortly after the marriage registry Mrs. Victoria Ngozi urged young couples to refrain from building their marriages from Facebook and other social media platforms to settle marital issues as it escalate the problems.
Mrs. Victoria Ngozi Popoola who retired from the Nasirudeen community Basic School Idi Oya under Oyo State ministry of education as headmistress, gave the admonition in a homily between her first son Mr. Kingsley Ebube and his dear wife former miss Mary Rasidi Akinbolaa, at Oluyole LGA marriage registry in New garage Ibadan, Oyo State capital that the couple should strive to settle their dispute when araises without third party or counselling from Facebook.
The grooms mother said it ungodly that the social media is teaching young people that parting ways and divorce remain things acceptable in the society.
According to her it is negative and unacceptable that the media industry is portraying “divorce” and answering “ex” as something good and cherished in the society. This is false.
“Most recent couples are quick to use social media, especially Face-book and WhatsApp, to easily share their challenges in their marital homes and families, which is wrong.
Mrs. Ngozi in a video interview with Newsieevents said “Two people living together at times have issues and it is better solved by the two people involved in terms of marriage – husband and wife – and not involving multiply third parties via the social media space.
“I charge my son and his dear wife as young couples to see that they tolerate and persevere each other in their marriages to preserve the marriage institution as instituted by the Lord Almighty,” she said.
She, however, called on to the newly joined couple to desist from the temptation of returning to Facebook marriage councilors, adding that it was imperative that the recognised their place of God in all they do and become.
