Seriake Dickson, the immediate past governor of Bayelsa state, in a statement on Monday, August 17, said Duoye Diri remains the governor of Bayelsa state until all appeal processes are exhausted.
Dickson has said that the judgment of the election petition tribunal which nullified the state governorship election will not take effect until the matter gets to the Supreme Court.
He pleaded with the good people of Bayelsa state not to be worried about the situation which he described as a temporary setback which the Peoples Democratic Party will definitely appeal.
Governor Diri while reacting to the development, In a press release by his acting chief press secretary, Daniel Alabrah, the governor said he is very optimistic that he would triumph in the end.
He urged members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his supporters not to panic and to continue to remain calm and be law-abiding as he has instructed his lawyers to file the necessary papers to appeal the ruling.
