As voters head to the polls in Edo State to elect a new governor, security measures have intensified, with the Nigerian Army and police deployed across key areas in Benin City. Major roads, including Ekenwa Road and junctions at Oba Market, have been blocked, creating traffic disruptions.
Armoured Personnel Carriers are also stationed at strategic points, such as Akakpava Road near the Central Bank. This heavy security presence aims to ensure a safe and orderly voting process as the electorate prepares to choose a successor to outgoing Governor Godwin Obaseki.
