Senator Monday Okpebholo has urged Asue Ighodalo, the PDP governorship candidate for the upcoming election in Edo State, to withdraw from the race.
Okpebholo criticized Ighodalo’s performance as an economic adviser under Governor Godwin Obaseki, accusing him of contributing to a substantial increase in the state’s debt, which has risen from N43 billion to over N573 billion.
Okpebholo, who is the APC candidate, argued that the failure of the current administration reflects poorly on Ighodalo and claimed that the state’s financial mismanagement under Obaseki warrants a change in leadership.
He promised to focus on improving governance and empowering farmers if elected.
