On what is seen as a platform for the advancement of his usual Apostolic service and kind gestures to humanity,, the chairman Board of Governors, Tower of Ivory schools, DIG Udom Ekpoudom (rtd) has sworn to continually clean tears from the eyes of the vulnerables in the society, as Lions Club of Uyo crowned him the 21st President.
Ekpoudom who took this oath during the investiture on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Tower of Ivory schools Airport road, Uyo, promised to be dedicated to the course of lionism, the same way he has been committed to the ideals of the club since his induction.
He disclosed his unreserved urge to give back to the community, declaring that the Uyo Lions Club is the entity through which he will deliver those dividends to his community.
The award winning community service provider outlined that lions Club under his watch as the president will embark on actualization of lofty projects in different areas such as education, health, environment, while engaging the youths and helping the general society to relieving hunger.
DIG Udom Ekpoudom, a five star philanthropist swore to swing into construction of solar powered borehole along with modern water cistern toilets at St Michael’s Primary school, Midim, Abak Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.
On the ciitation read by his son, describes him as a man who has raised more leaders in Etim Ekpo and has empowered his people to the best of his abilities, stressing that DIG Ekpoudom further decided to alleviate the poor from poverty and gives his shoulder for the orphans to lean on.
Hear him, ” As philanthropist, his interest centres more on activities and programmes aimed at alleviating human suffering and deprivations including the provision of items ranging from motor vehicles, motorcycles, wrappers and food items to the poor,”
According to him, ” before the advent of free education in Akwa Ibom State, Udom Ekpoudom had awarded scholarships to over fifty indigenous students yearly in elementary and secondary schools, gives scholarship to many pupils and students of his schools on his scholarship scheme, provided befitting office accommodation for Etim Ekpo Traditional Rulers Council, who never had one since the creation.
The event which witnessed induction of new members and inauguration of new officers, also had in attendance:the district Governor(2021/2022)Lions year, Lynda Odu Okpeseyi, PMJF, NLCF, Region 8 chairperson Lion Unwana Akpan, outgoing President Lion Arc. Lawrence Bryce, Chairman of the occasion, Chief Fidelis Nweke ably represented by Engr. Malachy Emmanuel, other Lions, Leos and people drawn from all walks of life.
