A former Governorship aspirant of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Chikwe Udensi has gifted the Independent National Electorial Commission (INEC) State Returning Officer in the just concluded Governorship election in Abia State, Prof Nnenna Oti the sum of N100m for her integrity.
This is even as another son of the state, Steven Ukpabi gifted the REC who was said to have refused to be compromised during the Governorship election, a brand new prado land cruiser Sport Utulity Vehicle (SUV).
Udensi in a statement said he decided to reward Prof. Oti because he was told the lady rejected monetary inducement to influence the outcome of the election in favour of a particular political party in the state.
It is in appreciation of her integrity and honesty, I am gifting the INEC governorship retuning officer in Abia State, Prof. Nnenna Oti the sum of N100m”, Udensi said.
The form APGA Governorship aspirant observed that persons in the mould of Prof Oti were rare in the country and the best way of encouragement, was to reward her.
Udensi said going by how the REC stood her grounds during the collation of results to ensure the right thing was done which culminated in the liberation of Abia after the polls, that no gift to Prof Oti was too much.
Otti secured a total of 175,466 votes to defeat his closest rival and candidate of the PDP, Okey Ahiwe who scored 88,526.
Prof. Oti, declared the LP candidate the winner at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Umuahia, the state capital, Wednesday afternoon after completing the suspended collation of results.
