The need to engage reputable women in good governance advocacy in the Nation has once again been emphasized.
The Chairman, Ibom Power Company Ltd, Engr. Etido Inyang gave this charge at the meeting of the National executive council of the Nigeria Good Governance Group (NGGG) soon after his induction as a member of the BOT in Abuja.
Engr. Inyang said the only way the nation can boast of good governance is when more women with reputable qualities are engaged in sensitive responsibilities to offer their well knowledgeable contributions in the good governance advocacy mission by the group.
Engr. Inyang who was recently honored with an award of excellence by the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and officially been inducted as a member of the BOT by the Nigeria Good Governance Group (NGGG) while addressing the National Council of the group called on the organisation to include the women in their activities if truly they are on a mission to actualising good governance in the country.
The former member of the state executive council Engr Inyang, who is also the patron of the NGGG in Akwa Ibom State equally used the medium to acknowledge the Director-General of the Nigeria Good Governance Group (NGGG), Alhaji Dr. Bala Mohammed, and the Vice-Chairman, Board of Trustees of the group, Alhaji Babayo Maina for deeming him fit to be inducted and adopted into the organization as a BOT member from the south-southgeo-political zone.
Engr. Etido Inyang while promising never to relent effort in the work of NGGG as that would proffer solution to the age-long leadership problem faced by the country also unfolds strategies that would secure the desired good governance for the country in its short term, medium, and long term plans and solicit for more awareness creation as that will help the group to achieve its goals.
Meanwhile, the Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the Nigerian Good Governance Group (NGGG) has unveiled plans to host the South-South Good Governance Conference with the theme ” …mobilising the women for Good Governance in Nigeria”.
The Chairman of NGGG in Akwa Ibom state Comrade Anietie Ekpenyong told our correspondent that the conference is in line with the appeal of Engr. Etido Inyang for the involvement of women in good Governance.
He said the conference will take effect in December 2020 to encourage women to be part of the making of Good Governance in the country.
