The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukayode, has emphasized that every young person deserves equal opportunities for self-expression.
However, he pointed out that Nigerian youths face significant challenges due to nepotism and favoritism.
Speaking at a Town Hall Meeting organized by the EFCC in Kano, Olukayode highlighted the theme, “Uniting the Youths against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity,” which underscores the urgent need for young people to come together and fight corruption.
He explained that while corruption affects all age groups, its impact is particularly damaging to the future of young people, making it essential for them to lead the fight against it.
Represented by Ibrahim Shazali, the EFCC’s Kano Commander, Olukayode also emphasized that internet fraud is not a sustainable path to success and that collaborative efforts are crucial for creating progress in a corrupt-free environment.
He stressed the importance of positive, reform-oriented mindsets, urging youths to remain committed to integrity.
The Chairman called for a united front to challenge corruption at all levels of government and supported the idea of youth involvement in anti-corruption activities.
He encouraged young people to expose corrupt practices in their communities, reinforcing the need for personal responsibility and accountability.
Ultimately, he stated that individual commitment to rejecting corruption is the most powerful tool in creating lasting change.
