The tragic death of Okoronta Jessica Chuks, a female pre-nursery pupil from Uja village in Abia State, has sparked an outcry from her father, Okoronta Chuks, who demands justice after his daughter allegedly consumed a harmful liquid substance at school.

The incident occurred on November 21, 2024, when the school informed the father that his daughter had ingested what is believed to be kerosene. However, the school claims that it took immediate steps to save her by rushing her to a clinic.

Mr. Chuks, upset by the lack of communication, expressed his disbelief that his daughter was taken to a medical facility without his prior knowledge, despite having a family doctor. He recounted the horror of seeing his daughter at the clinic, but despite efforts to revive her, she tragically passed away. The case has been reported to the Nigerian Police, and the family is calling for a thorough investigation.

James Uchegbuo, Secretary of the Oboro Council of President Generals Forum, criticized the school for carelessly storing harmful substances in areas accessible to children, urging the police to conduct a thorough investigation and deliver justice for the deceased.

The Abia State Police spokesperson, ASP Maureen Chinaka, confirmed that an investigation into the matter is underway.
