The Nigerian government has initiated legal proceedings against nine individuals and the organization Order Paper for allegedly publishing false information regarding a purported siege by the Department of State Services (DSS) on the National Assembly, linked to an impeachment move against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The charges, filed on October 21, include offenses under the Cybercrimes Act and the Criminal Code, such as cyber defamation, false news publication, and conspiracy to disseminate false information.
The defendants include various officials of Order Paper, including its founder and lead reporter. No arraignment date has been set yet.
