A heated exchange has erupted between former Governors of Abia State, Senator Theodore Orji and Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, following comments made by Ikpeazu regarding the condition of the state when he assumed office.
Ikpeazu recently claimed he inherited a “gloomy” Abia, and criticized leaders who blame their predecessors, branding them as “lazy.” However, Senator Orji, through his media aide Ifeanyi Umere, responded sharply, accusing Ikpeazu of hypocrisy.
Orji expressed astonishment that Ikpeazu would condemn the act of criticizing predecessors while simultaneously blaming him for the state’s condition. He urged Ikpeazu to “carry his cross” and take full responsibility for his performance in office rather than shifting blame.
“Governance is not about making speeches,” Orji stated, emphasizing that Ikpeazu should own up to both his actions and inactions during his tenure.
