Former Ekiti Governor Ayo Fayose has declared that reconciliation between Minister Nyesom Wike and Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State is impossible due to a significant breach of trust. Speaking on Channels Television, Fayose emphasized that the situation has escalated beyond repair, stating, “The matter has crossed the Rubicon.”
The conflict has persisted since Fubara took office in 2023, with Wike asserting that restoring peace is Fubara’s responsibility. The feud intensified during recent local government elections, resulting in violent clashes and destruction in several local government areas, despite efforts by President Bola Tinubu to mediate. Fayose’s comments highlight the deep divisions between the two leaders, suggesting that any hope for reconciliation is futile at this stage.
