…As group threatens protest action
Governor Umoh Eno’s media consultant and honorary special adviser Mr. Aniekan John Umanah has fallen into another trouble following his action to impose one Mr. Paul Augustine as councilorship candidate in Otoro ward one ahead of the October 26th local government election.
A political pressure group in the ward launched a massive protest against Mr. Umanah’s effort to impose Mr. Paul Augustine as councillorship candidate for Ikot oku mfang against the interest of the masses.
The group said such imposition of councilorship candidate cannot survive, accusing a section of the PDP leadership in Abak of bias and deliberate plot to frustrate the unity of the party and weaken the party in the build-up to 2027.
In a similar development, the PDP leadership in Otoro ward 1 and ward 2 respectively has served notice of intentions challenging Aniekan Umanah to stay away from the politics of the wards, but focus on what happens in his ward.
The group also warn that there is no force that will subvert the will of the people to serve the interests of some tendencies within and outside the ward to “humiliate Ikot oku mfang and bring the party to disrepute”.
Meanwhile, the some section of youths in Ikot oku mfang and some PDP Stakeholders have concluded arrangement to go to engage in street protest over the alleged attempt to subvert their choice of candidate for the councillorship poll.
They complained about a gang-up from the other leaders and alleged forgery of signatures of some persons to authenticate the required documents for candidacy.
The groups vowed to pursue their grievance to any level except their case was addressed by the party leadership in Abak LGA and the state at large
