Receny, five individuals were reportedly abducted by gunmen along the Kwara State highway, specifically in Obbo-Ayegunle, Ekiti LGA.
The victims were returning to Odo-Owa from a wedding in Ope town, Kogi State, when the incident occurred around 4pm. Among the abducted were Oloye Oyewole Abolarin, the head of hunters in Odo-Owa, his wife, Funmilayo Abolarin, Tunde Oladipo, his wife, and another person named Bose, all from Agbele Igbede compound in Odo-Owa.
The kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N100 million for their release.
The victims’ families and the community have begun contributing funds to meet the demand, while also appealing to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and security agencies for assistance.
Additionally, reports suggest another kidnapping occurred on Monday along the Omu-Aran highway. Efforts to contact the Kwara State police spokesperson for updates were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
