Heavy rainfall in Zamfara State, particularly in Gusau, has caused widespread flooding, resulting in the destruction of residential buildings and farmlands. Thousands have been displaced as homes behind the State Police Commissioner’s residence were overwhelmed by the flood. Residents, including Ibrahim Muhammad Musa, reported that the suddenness of the flood left them unable to salvage their belongings.
The flood also impacted Angwar Danturai and the Secretariat of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Gusau, where many properties were damaged, and access was hindered. Business activities in the area have been disrupted, with many traders unable to operate due to water damage. The flood’s effects are felt across the state, but there has been no official response from the government, apart from previous statements regarding Gummi Local Government Area.
In response to the disaster, federal lawmaker Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji has donated N10 million and relief supplies to aid affected individuals. The situation has drawn attention from various public figures, reflecting the severity of the crisis in Zamfara State.
