Heightened Security at Rivers Assembly as Lawmakers Resume Under Amaewhule

Newsie Events:

Security has been tightened at the Rivers State House of Assembly in Port Harcourt as lawmakers prepare to reconvene under Speaker Martin Amaewhule.

According to Channels TV, Amaewhule issued the notice for the sitting on Monday morning.

This follows a Supreme Court ruling on Friday that directed his faction and other elected members to resume legislative activities without obstruction.

Earlier today, multiple teams of police officers and operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) were seen stationed at the Assembly Complex.

While the agenda for the session remains unclear, it is speculated that discussions may focus on local government administration in the state.
