The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has sharply criticized retiring Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Olukayode Ariwoola, calling his tenure one of the most disappointing in the judiciary’s history.
The group accuses Ariwoola of nepotism, alleged corruption, and undermining justice and fairness. They specifically cite his appointment of his brother, Adebayo Lateef Ariwoola, as head of the audit department at the National Judicial Council (NJC) and securing a judicial position for his son, Olukayode Ariwoola Jr., as indicative of these issues.
HURIWA contends that these actions have set a troubling precedent, leading to increased nepotism and corruption within the judiciary.
