Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has expressed his confidence in being able to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) if he chooses to do so, emphasizing that he is not afraid of making such a move. Wike made this assertion while explaining his decision to not support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, during the 2023 election. He cited a lack of equity and fairness within the PDP as the primary reasons for his stance.
Wike clarified that he never had any discussions with President Bola Tinubu before the elections about defecting to the APC and that his decision to publicly reject Atiku’s candidacy was based on principles. He also emphasized his commitment to transparency, stating that he has always been consistent with his actions and words, in contrast to what he perceives as duplicity within certain political circles. Wike further asserted that there was no one in the PDP whom he feared or who could stop him if he wanted to join the APC.
