INEC commissioner in Ondo state respond to Gov. Makinde’s accusation.

By Divine Sam

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has responded to accusations made by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde regarding the Ondo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Toyin Babalola. Makinde claimed she should be removed from her position because she is from Ondo State, which INEC refuted, stating that Babalola is not from there and that the commission adheres to a policy preventing the deployment of officials to their states of origin.

INEC criticized Makinde for making unfounded allegations, reminding public officials to verify information before making claims. This isn’t the first time Makinde has raised concerns about INEC officials, as he previously accused a senior official of undermining the 2020 governorship election, a claim INEC also deemed untrue.
