On Tuesday, Kwara State Chief Judge Justice Abiodun Ayodele Adebara released three inmates from the custodial centres in Ilorin during his visit to the Old Ilorin and New Okekura facilities. This initiative is part of his constitutional mandate to address overcrowding and review cases, particularly those involving long detention periods, terminal illnesses, or minor offenses suitable for community service.
Accompanied by Justice Ibijoke Olawoyin and other officials, Justice Adebara emphasized the importance of rehabilitation, urging the released inmates to avoid crime. The State Controller of Corrections, Danmairomu Shuaib Ayodeji, commended the Chief Judge for his efforts and encouraged the former inmates to maintain good conduct. This jail delivery exercise will be continued regularly to improve conditions within the custodial system.
