Enugu State’s Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kanayo Uzuegbu, has announced a significant deployment of personnel and resources to ensure peaceful council polls on September 21. A restriction on human and vehicular movements will be enforced from 12:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. that day, exempting essential service providers, media personnel, election officials, and accredited observers.
Uzuegbu emphasized that no security personnel should escort VIPs to polling centers and warned against electoral violence, urging political parties to adhere to the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission’s guidelines.
He cautioned that any criminal activity during the elections will be met with a decisive response and encouraged parents to prevent their children from engaging in electoral misconduct.
