A lion at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library Wildlife Park in Abeokuta, Ogun State, killed its handler, Babaji Daule, on September 28, 2024. Daule, 35, was fatally mauled while attempting to feed the lion after hours.
According to the park management, he neglected to secure the enclosure’s locks, leading to the attack. Following the incident, the lion was euthanized to prevent further mutilation of the body. Police confirmed that the handler suffered severe neck injuries, which resulted in his death.
The park management expressed condolences to Daule’s family and emphasized their commitment to safety for visitors and staff. The body has been taken to Ijaye General Hospital’s mortuary.
