The Delta State government is moving forward with the implementation of a new minimum wage, as announced by State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza. Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has directed key officials to negotiate with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) regarding the wage adjustments.
Additionally, Governor Oborevwori has highlighted the need for programs to alleviate the economic hardship, particularly focusing on youth. Recent State Executive Council (EXCO) approvals include measures to combat gully erosion, purchase CT scanning machines for hospitals, and renovate over 150 primary health centers.
A N3.55 billion counterpart funding for the 2024 Universal Basic Education Programme has also been approved, along with the appointment of Obi Sunday Ubaka Ogboli as Obi of Issele-Mkpitime.
