The Niger State Government and BENIJ Nigeria Limited, a private consulting firm, have signed a contract for the construction of 556 kilometers of roads throughout the state.
At the signing of the contract at the Niger State Government Lodge in Abuja, Governor Muhammad Umar Bago declared that the action was consistent with his administration’s urban redevelopment agenda.
Bago expressed his regret about the state’s lack of infrastructure, focusing in particular on its roads:
“My administration is poised to significantly turn around the situation for the good of the people. The roads when completed will attract investors and make business easy for them.”
He claimed that using the consultant firm’s services would guarantee project quality control and financial benefit.
He revealed that there will be further road projects after the initial 556 kilometers of construction.
Olatunji Ajayi, the principal consultant at BENIJ Nigeria Limited, informed the Niger State Government in a statement that the company is fully committed to providing the knowledge that will ensure excellence is obtained. He also stated that the company will provide a detailed design for the projects within five weeks.
Additionally, Hassan Etsu, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, signed on behalf of the Niger State Government, and Ajayi, on behalf of the company.
