NLC president Ajaero share his experience with DSS.

Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has detailed his experience during his recent detention by the Department of State Services (DSS). Ajaero explained that while in custody, his phones and international passport were seized but have since been returned. He described his detention as involving questioning by both the DSS and the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the police.

Ajaero reported that the questions were repetitive and focused on various topics, including the Labour Party’s operations, the Iva Valley Bookshop in the NLC secretariat, and specific protesters like Eleojo Opaluwa. He emphasized that the NLC is not responsible for running the Labour Party but acts as a trustee. Ajaero criticized the interrogation as an attempt to find evidence to incriminate him and his organization, which he believes is part of a broader effort to intimidate and suppress them.
