The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig. Gen. Yushau Ahmed, has assured corps members that their allowances will be increased in line with the new minimum wage once it is implemented for civil servants. This promise was made during his visit to orientation camps in Kebbi and Sokoto States.
He emphasized the importance of skill acquisition during the orientation and post-camp periods, urging corps members to learn skills that could help them create jobs rather than just seeking employment. Ahmed highlighted NYSC’s partnerships with various organizations like the Central Bank of Nigeria and Bank of Industry, which provide loans and grants to corps members. He also assured that corps members’ safety would be prioritized and urged them to stay security conscious.
In camp updates, Kebbi State reported 1,195 registered corps members, including those displaced from Zamfara, while Sokoto State had 1,488 corps members, with a similar number displaced from Zamfara. Both states reported positive responses and high discipline among corps members.
