October 1st: Take It back movement condemn recent arrest of Omoyele Sowore by men of NIS upon his return to Nigeria.

The Take It Back Movement has strongly condemned the recent arrest of Omoyele Sowore by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) upon his return to Nigeria. Sowore, a prominent human rights activist, was detained at Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos, allegedly due to his involvement in nationwide protests against economic hardship.

In a statement issued by the organization’s Director of Communications, Chidi Nwayanwu, Take It Back Movement criticized the ongoing intimidation of activists by the current administration. They expressed unwavering support for the planned nationwide protests, known as #FearlessInOctober, which aim to address issues of hardship and hunger in Nigeria.

The statement called on the government to cease oppressive tactics and respect citizens’ rights to peaceful protest and freedom of expression. The organization urged Nigerians to remain resilient and vocal in their demands for justice and accountability from the government.
