The organizers of the FearlessInOctober protest, led by Omoyele Sowore, have put forth 17 demands for the Nigerian government. The demands include:
- Immediate and unconditional release of all detained protesters.
- Unfreezing of detained protesters’ assets and bank accounts, with compensation for distress.
- Removal and prosecution of several high-ranking officials including the Inspector General of Police.
- Replacement of the 1999 Constitution with a new constitution created through a Sovereign National Conference and National Referendum.
- Abolition of the Senate and reduction of lawmaking to a part-time job.
- Increase in the minimum wage to N250,000 monthly.
- Heavy investment in education, including grants for students and free compulsory education for children.
- Unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and demilitarization of the South East.
- Release and compensation for ALL #ENDSARS and political detainees.
- Renationalization of public enterprises sold to government officials and cronies.
- Reinstatement of a corruption-free subsidy regime.
- Probe of past and present leaders for looting, with funds directed towards education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
- Restructuring Nigeria to accommodate diversity and promote regional development.
- Ending banditry, terrorism, and violent crimes, with reforms to security agencies.
- Establishment of a Special Energy Fund to drive power sector development.
- Reconstitution of the Nigerian Electoral Body to eliminate corruption.
- Massive investment in public works and industrialization, including a shake-up of the judiciary and diaspora voting rights.
